With the multitude of issues facing the trucking industry and business in general, a strong voice in the Missouri Capitol is needed. The lobbying efforts of the association include direct contact with legislators, as well as legislative bulletins to the membership. Activities also include contact with various state agencies with regard to procedures, rules and regulations.

Newsletters, bulletins, and special notices containing the latest information available on trends developing in the industry keep members informed. With the constant changes taking place in rules, regulations, and laws, information is not a luxury, it is a necessity.

The Association employs six full-time employees to assist members. The staff is in contact with the Missouri Highway Patrol, Department of Revenue, Department of Transportation's Motor Carrier Services Unit, Department of Natural Resources, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, and the Federal Highway Administration.
What does MoTA offer? SAFETY PROGRAMS!
The Association safety programs include "Driver of the Month" and "Driver of the Year" contests, fleet safety contests, the annual Truck Driving Championships Competition, and the Chairman's Safe Driving Club. The driver of the year and championship winners then compete nationally for honors. The MoTA Council of Safety Supervisors includes safety experts from member companies, meeting monthly. The Council sponsors safety seminars, motorist rest stops, and annual conference, and other safety projects.

The Technology and Maintenance Council is comprised of maintenance experts from MoTA member companies meeting every other month for educational programs and networking oportunities. TMC programs include recognition of a "Technician of the Month", "Technician of the Year", and a "SuperTech" skills competition. Activities include sponsoring an annual conference, outreach programs and a scholarship program for future technicians.

The Association provides data on highway tax payments, the economic importance of trucking, and other industry data to the public and news media.
